Want to know the best thing about having a sister that’s so different than you are? You have a travel partner that brings a completely different range of ideas to your trip… AND, it’s someone that youre very used to arguing with, so you know youre not going to get your way 100% of the time.
We’ve laid out our travel styles, which couldn’t be more different. All of our trips have been a combination of the things we love to do and the way we love to do them, and each one has been more amazing than the last.
Big Sister
Hi, I’m Stephanie – the older, wiser, funnier half of this sister squad. I work in politics, although I fancy myself a photographer and I’m pretty sure NatGeo will be calling any day to offer me a position (HAY, a girl can dream, right?). I volunteer at an animal shelter, I love wretched alien movies, and cry at sunrises.
Planning: When planning a trip, I usually try to work in one to two must-do or must-see things planned in advance, and then just…. ehhh… let the details fill themselves in as I go. I tend to make friends wherever I go so I’m always asking for a good spot to grab dinner off the beaten path.
Itinerary: My chosen activities are all about action. Lets go skydiving! Lets take surfing lessons too. Let’s climb to the highest point in the city for sunset. Ghost tour, anyone? I’m perfectly content to spend hours walking from one end of a new city to the other, camera in hand, to take it all in.
Budget: I’m not the type to cut corners for activities I absolutely love. I will spend more money on front row concert tickets than an entire week at the hotel. I certainly save where I can, but cheaper isn’t always the best option.
Food: Yes. To Everything. Give me 10 servings of the local fare – dinner, drinks, dessert – just give me everything. I usually don’t make reservations in advance though – who wants to stop snorkeling early just to go sit inside?
Ideal Trip:
Little Sister
Samantha, here! Younger sister, at your service.
Planning: Details, okay? Details, please. I want to know where I’m going, at what time, and how I’m getting there – and I want it all confirmed, weeks in advance. Sure plans change all the time – flights are delayed, dinners run late – but I like to have a clear plan of attack.
